OneDrive - Office365 Cached Credentials Error

Issue

OneDrive and Office 365 tries to use old credentials to sign in after user has reset their password.

 

Resolution
  • In OneDrive settings, uncheck "Use Office to sync".
  • Sign out of all Office apps.
  • In Office apps, disconnect the One Drive service.
  • In Credentials Manager, delete all credentials related to Office.
  • In Settings/Accounts, delete all accounts related to Office.
  • In Windows Mail (not Outlook), remove the user's UHV account if it is listed.
  • Uninstall Office 365, Teams, and One Drive.
  • Uninstall One Note if it is still listed.
  • Reboot the machine.
  • Reinstall Office 365 and sign in to activate the license.
  • Sign into OneDrive and setup a new folder as the user's sync folder (do not use the old folder that it tries to map).

 

Cause

Cache needs to be cleared for Office 365 programs.
