Installing Microsoft Visual Studio

Overview

Steps to install Microsoft Visual Studio on employee, computer lab, and student computers.

Issue

Follow the prompts in the installer to install Microsoft Visual Studio. The installer is in \\fs03. 

Students can download the installer from Download Visual Studio Tools - Install Free for Windows, Mac, Linux. Students should choose the Professional version.

Note: Employee and student users will need to use their UHV email to login and activate the license.

Workloads & Individual Components

On the screen that asks for Workloads, install the following:

  1. ASP.NET and web development
  2. .NET Multi-platform App UI development
  3. .NET desktop development
  4. Desktop development with C++
  5. Universal Windows Platform development

Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)On the tab for Individual Components, install the following:

  • Class Designer

Troubleshooting

If you receive a message to activate Visual Studio, use your UHV credentials.

Employee users will need to be licensed by IT.
